Wave Spring Configurations:
Single Turn Wave Springs (Gap or Overlap)
Single turn gap or overlap type wave springs can be ordered from stock and are suitable for a majority of applications. Choose from a large selection of bore and rod diameters, loading capacities, work and free heights, number of waves and thicknesses.

Crest-to-Crest® wave springs (Plain Ends or Squared-Shim Ends)
Crest-to-Crest wave springs are typically used in applications requiring low-medium spring rates or large deflections with low-medium forces. They occupy 1/3 to ½ the axial space of a conventional round wire spring while maintaining the same rate and deflection.
Standard Parts
1/4"-2" and 6 mm - 60 mm Diameters

Bearing Preload Wave Springs (Gap or Overlap)
Bearing preload wave springs exert constant light/medium pressure that removes play between the ball bearings' inner and outer races. Preloading can reduce the possibility of bearing damage due to vibration (vibratory loading) and wear due to repetitive and non-repetitive runout. Bearing preload springs can help minimize bearing noise, eliminate play and prevent fretting.

Wavo® Springs
Wavo Springs are produced from round-section wire to provide
higher loads while maintaining the accurate loading found in wave
springs.
As an alternative to Belleville Springs, the Wavo provides
similar loads but with an accurate, predictable spring rate.
Nested
Nested Spirawave Wave Springs often replace Belleville spring washers and are ideal for applications requiring high but accurate forces, high spring rates and short deflections.
Linear Expanders
Linear expanders are a continuous wave formed (marcelled) wire length produced from spring tempered materials. They act as a load bearing device having approximately the same load/deflection characteristics as a wave spring.
Forces act axially depending on the installed position. Axial pressure is obtained by lying the expander flat in a straight line. Circular wrapping the expander produces a radial force or outward pressure. Linear expanders are available cut to length or as a continuous coil for the user to cut as needed.
Special Wave Spring Designs
Special designs comprise approximately 75% of Smalley's production. Because of Smalley's No-Tooling-Cost manufacturing process, special wave spring designs can be economically and quickly produced.
