Smalley Reatining Ring and Wave Spring Part Number Search Help

Tips for searching:
  • Smalley wave spring and snap ring part numbers have no spaces, enter a dash between the series and the number
  • Do not enter a material suffix, the Smalley part database is not material specific

Specifying Part Number: Retaining Rings
Retaining ring part numbers consist of three parts: the ring series and application diameter, the material and the finish. Please use the following guide to correctly identify a part:

  • Series & Application Diameter: The first portion of a Smalley retaining ring part number represents what series of retaining ring is specified. This indicates whether the retaining ring is a light duty, medium duty, medium heavy, heavy, metric or snap ring. This portion of the part number also indicates whether the retaining ring is an internal/housing ring or external/shaft ring and the application size.
Example: WH-100 1.000" Medium Duty Housing Ring
WSM-150 1.500" Heavy Duty Shaft Ring

Specifying Part Number: Wave Springs
Wave spring part numbers consist of three parts: the wave spring series and application diameter, the material and the finish. Please use the following guide to correctly identify a part:

  • Series & Application Diameter: The first portion of a Wave Spring Smalley part number represents what type of spring is specified. The following prefixes should be used to specify wave spring type:
Series
Prefix
Standard Single-Turn Spring SSR
Bearing Preload Spring SSB
Narrow Section Single-Turn Spring SSR-N
Crest-to-Crest Spring C
Crest-to-Crest Spring with Shim End CS
Shim Spring SSRS
Wavo Spring RW

Example: C150-M5 1.500" Crest-to-Crest Wave Spring
CS125-L10 1.250" Crest-to-Crest Wave Spring with Shim Ends
  RW-0237 2.375" Wavo Spring

Finish: To specify a finish on retaining rings or wave springs add the appropriate suffix behind the part number. On standard materials, no suffix is necessary. An oil dip is provided on carbon steel to prevent corrosion. Stainless steel parts are vapor degreased and go through an ultrasonic cleaning process.

Example: WH-100-PA 1.000" Medium Duty Housing Retaining Ring with passivation

Material: To specify the material add the appropriate suffix below to the end of the part number.

Example: VH-50 0.500" Light Duty Housing Retaining Ring in Carbon Steel
VS-100-S02 1.000" Light Duty Shaft Retining Ring in 302 Stainless Steel
  C050-M5-INX 0.500" Crest-to-Crest Wave Spring in Inconel X-750

302 & 316 Stainless Steel are available for special designs on Smalley wave springs. 17-7 PH C/CH900 Stainless Steel is available for special designs on Smalley retaining rings.
